You have permission to set aside a sacred pause each month to tend your spirit, notice God's presence, and be renewed for the life, relationships, and work entrusted to you.

What is Spiritual Direction?

Imagine a space marked by curiosity. A space where, once a month, someone sits with you to notice where God is showing up in your life. Imagine tending to your own spirit with the same care you give others, so you can return refreshed to your ministry and leadership.

This is what spiritual direction offers. It is a set-aside time to slow down to the speed of wonder and notice God's presence around you through curiosity, listening deeply, and exploring the questions and longings that stir your heart. Together, we notice how God is speaking, nudging, and gently guiding you.

Why It Matters

Spiritual direction isn’t about quick fixes or easy answers. It’s about tending your inner life, noticing where God is moving, and letting your spirit be nourished by grace — so you can show up with greater love, depth, and presence in your life and leadership.

Over time, you may find yourself:

    • Becoming more aware of God’s presence in daily life

    • Discovering practices that nourish you in the midst of all you carry

    • Finding companionship through seasons of transition or change

    • Clarifying your gifts and callings—and how to share them with your communities

    • Exploring fresh, meaningful ways of prayer and connection

    • Learning to trust your experience of God and your own inner wisdom

    • Slowing down enough to find grace in ordinary places

My Role

Having the support and accompaniment of a spiritual director can help you notice what you might otherwise overlook.

I don’t “direct” in the sense of giving advice or fixing problems. Instead, I come alongside you with curiosity and compassion, offering silence, gentle questions, and spiritual practices to help draw your attention to God’s presence.

My role is to hold a gentle, open space where you can listen for God’s voice and rest in divine love.

Interested in arranging group spiritual direction for your team, church, conference, or group to listen together for Spirit’s guidance and nourish their spirits?

Getting Started

Our first time together is a free, 30-minute exploratory session. This gives us a chance to meet, ask questions, and experience a taste of spiritual direction before committing.

If we sense it’s a good fit, we’ll schedule sessions at a rhythm that works for you. Scheduling is simple and flexible — you can choose a time that works for you.

If you're longing for renewal, clarity, or a deeper connection with God, I invite you to sign up for a free session to explore whether spiritual direction might be a life-giving practice for you. I’d be honored to listen with you and share more about what I offer.

 FAQs

  • Spiritual direction is for anyone seeking a deeper connection with the Sacred. It is open to those rooted in a faith tradition and those who are not, to clergy and laity, to spiritual seekers and everyday leaders. Whether you're longing for renewal, navigating transition, or simply curious about where God might be showing up in your life, spiritual direction offers you a place of companionship and care.

  • Sessions last about an hour and are usually scheduled monthly, leaving space in between for reflection and noticing. Some people come for a particular season of discernment or transition, while others find it becomes an ongoing rhythm of spiritual practice and renewal.

  • 1:1 Spiritual Direction: $90 per session

Group Spiritual Direction: $270 for six months ($45 a session)

I keep a few reduced-fee spaces each month for those who need them. If the full rate isn't possible for you right now, please reach out and we can talk together.

If you are in a position of greater financial ease and would like to help make spiritual direction more accessible for others, I also welcome conversations about a sponsorship rate.

  • 1:1 sessions often begin by lighting a candle or marking a gentle transition into our time together. You bring what’s on your heart and we listen together for where God may be moving.

    In a session, we may:

    • Rest in silence

    • Reflect on your experiences

    • Explore spiritual practices

    • Engage in writing, journaling, collage, or other creative practices

    • Spend time with the natural world through eco-spiritual practices

Group sessions are similar, beginning with a centering practice and then moving into time for sharing and listening. Participants will have the opportunity to share and be witnessed, and to hold space for others.

Each session unfolds at a gentle pace, allowing you space to notice, reflect, and be renewed.

  • That's completely fine! Some sessions begin with clear questions or reflections, while others begin with silence or uncertainty. If you're not sure what to bring, we can explore a practice together — like a guided spiritual practice, silence, or creative expression — that helps you listen more deeply to what your soul might be asking of you that day.

  • I follow the ethical guidelines of Spiritual Directors International, and I engage in regular supervision and meet monthly with my own spiritual director. As an ordained elder in The United Methodist Church, I also honor my denomination's standards for clergy ethics, accountability, and conduct. In addition, I seek ongoing continuing education and formation opportunities each year to deepen my skills, practice self-care, and remain grounded in my own spiritual practices.

  • Spiritual direction is not therapy or coaching, though it shares some similarities. Counseling often begins when someone is in distress, focusing on symptoms, diagnosis, and treatment plans that help one cope and heal.

Spiritual direction is not about problem-solving or advice-giving. Instead, it is a gentle space for slowing down, savoring the sacred in daily life, and becoming more aware of the grace already present. A spiritual director holds space for slowing down, noticing, and deepening your connection with the Divine. When you schedule a session, I commit to holding that hour with you as an open, unhurried time to rest, listen, and discern God’s voice.

  • I often use the word "God" as a placeholder for the Sacred, though I recognize it may not be the word everyone connects with — and for some, it carries difficult baggage. As Roslyn G. Weiner writes in Seeking in the Company of Others, "the word god is a placeholder; it awaits naming flowing from deep contemplation and careful noticing."

You may prefer Spirit, Creator, Holy One, Love, Christ, or another name that reflects your own experience. In our time together, you are free to use whatever language feels most authentic to you. What matters is not the word itself, but your openness to encountering the Sacred in your life.

Sometimes all you need is a good question and a compassionate space to answer it, and you can overhear yourself say exactly what you’ve been longing to know.
